Physicians Regional Healthcare System is comprised of two hospitals: Physicians Regional-Pine Ridge and Physicians Regional-Collier Boulevard. Physicians Regional-Pine Ridge has been part of the Southwest Florida community since 1999.  Formerly Cleveland Clinic Florida, the hospital was purchased in May 2006 by Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA), a leading national operator of acute care hospitals.  Physicians Regional-Collier Boulevard is Southwest Florida's newest hospital and HMA's first de nova hospital.  The State of Florida granted HMA a Certificate of Need  to build the hospital in 2005.  Construction began in September 2005, and in February 2007 the hospital began accepting patients.  The two hospitals operate with one leadership team under the umbrella of Physicians Regional Healthcare System.
