Built in 1965 and located 20 miles east of Fort Myers, in 2001 the hospital became a part of Health Management Associates, Inc. With the change in ownership came a new name, Lehigh Regional Medical Center, to reflect the hospital's role in providing health care service to eastern Lee County and further east to Hendry County. More than 100 physicians belong to Lehigh Regional Medical Center's medical staff providing all major medical and surgical specialties.
Lehigh Regional Medical Center offers 24-hour emergency services, utilizes state-of-the-art equipment and techniques in radiology, nuclear medicine, laboratory, pharmacy, cardiopulmonary, CAT Scan, MRI, rehab services, and mammography. It has four surgical suites and is equipped to perform both major and minor types of surgery. Recent additions to services include the Wound Care Clinic, Pain Management Clinic, and Hospitalist Program.
