Immokalee, Florida is a census-designated place in Collier County, Florida. It is Collier County's largest inland community. The name Immokalee means “my home” in Seminole. The community got its start in the 1800s as a ranch town. A trip to the Immokalee Pioneer Museum, a 15-acre living history museum, allows visitors to experience life on an actual southwest Florida ranch from the early 1900s. Today, Immokalee has become the center of the region’s agricultural industry. The farms of Immokalee produce a significant portion of the nation’s fresh produce, including tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, potatoes, citrus and more.
The U.S. Census Bureau records the population of Immokalee, FL as 19,763 residents in 2000. Immokalee's residents are young, with a median age of 24.7 as opposed to the U.S. average of 35.3.
Immokalee is the proud home of Ave Maria, a designed community, with a new Catholic university, Ave Maria University, at its core. When development is complete, the town is planned to have a population of 3,000 permanent residents and 5,000 students. Recreational amenities include a water park, fitness center, golf course, baseball fields and shopping.
In 2009, The Florida National Guard announced plans for a $15.7 million armory for a newly formed guard unit. The 55,000-square-foot armory will be built on 26 acres at the Immokalee Regional Airport. The armory will be home to the 150-soldier 856th Quartermaster Battalion of the Florida Army National Guard.
The Seminole Casino Immokalee brings tourists to Immokalee, Florida with its exciting and varied entertainment. Seminole Casino Immokalee is the only 24-hour gaming facility in southwest Florida. The Seminole Casino Immokalee unveiled a $22 million expansion on February 12, 2009. The expansion also brings almost 600 new employees to work at the Immokalee casino. The economic impact of the casino extents beyond employment. The Seminole Tribe of Florida currently purchases more than $24 million dollars in goods and services from more than 850 Florida vendors every year.
There are two airports that serve Immokalee, Florida. The Immokalee Regional Airport is a public-use airport located just one mile from the central business district. The smaller Big Cypress Airfield Airport is also nearby. Collier Area Transit provides public transportation via local bus service.
Immokalee contains Florida's largest farmworker community.

Collier County Public School District serves Immokalee with
eight public elementary and middle schools and six public high
schools. Nearby institutions of higher learning include
Edison
Community College and the
Florida Gulf
Coast University, each approximately 35 miles from Immokalee
in Fort Myers, FL.
The Florida State Courts System is divided into 20 judicial circuits or areas of jurisdiction. Florida has two appellate courts. Florida's Supreme Court, the state's highest court, hears civil and criminal appeals from the lower courts. The court also answers constitutional questions and rules on the validity of statutes and on the construction of the state or U.S. constitutions. The state's five District Courts of Appeal, headquartered in Tallahassee, Lakeland, Miami, West Palm Beach, and Daytona Beach, hear all matters not directly appealable to the Supreme Court, as well as final actions of state agencies.
Florida has a two-tier trial court system of Circuit and County courts. The state's Circuit Courts hear felonies, family law matters, civil cases involving amounts over $15,000, probate, guardianship and mental health issues, juvenile dependency and delinquency issues and appeals from County Court. The state's County Courts hear misdemeanors, small claims of up to $5,000, and civil cases of up to and including $15,000 in controversy, as well as traffic cases. Examples of civil matters include hospital negligence, surgical malpractice, automobile accidents, truck accidents, work injury, dog bites, and professional liability lawsuits.
