Opened in July 1977, Cape Coral Hospital joined Lee Memorial Health System in 1996. Cape Coral Hospital is a 291 bed acute care facility, with private rooms. The hospital has the largest Emergency Department in Lee County and sees more than 42,000 patients annually. Cape Coral Hospital was honored in 2006 with the Specialty Excellence Award for General Surgery. It has also been ranked in Top 100 for Performance Improvement and one of the 100 Top Hospitals in Orthopedics by Thompson Healthcare, an independent firm that annually rates hospitals.
